True story, I was actually burned by shampoo. I know what you’re thinking. How do you get burned by shampoo? It was a chemical burn, and to understand this, you have to understand the whole reason that I would ever do something like this. I gave myself Kinky Twists. Basically they’re a type of two strand twist.
Despite getting my twists wet and shampooing them as best I could the entire 2 months they were installed, they still wound up with dirt where the hair and the extension met. It took me 11 hours to install them up and 5 hours to take them down. I washed my hair 2 times to try and get all of the dirt that was tangled in my natural fro. So, I got the bright idea that maybe I should soak it and that would soften the dirt. Bad idea. (Read on about Pumps and America’s Most Stylish Blogger!!)
I took my clarifying tea tree shampoo, slathered on a huge amount of it and then decided to let it sit overnight. After a night of soaking I woke up the next morning with a slight irritation on my left eyelid. Three days after that both my eyelids, ear, scalp and neck started to scab. It turns out I’d been burned by my shampoo. To make matters worse, 2 weeks after that, my skin was still too tender and I couldn’t get my makeup fix.
Fast Forward now I’m consoling myself by looking at shoes. I just realized that I do not have any pumps that are not black. Normally, I don’t wear heels because I’m over 5′10″ and I’m very clumsy, but some days you just want to treat yourself by doing something totally different. There are many days that I put on a full face of makeup, get completely dressed, and strut around my house! I’m thinking that some of these shoes could be great candidates for my new shoe quota.
I am in love with the thought of the Miss Me Vernice 29 Mary Jane Platform shoes being paired with everything!! But, truth be told, I’m really leaning more heavily towards the Steve Madden Women’s Fantacy Maryjane Pump (fuchsia and black shoe). I’ve heard the Jessica Simpson shoes are comfortable, but the faded reptile shoe is pretty hot. I’m no closer to a decision than I was before posting this!
Did You Know: BlueFly and Stylelist are having a contest to find America’s Most Stylish Blogger. I currently have my eye on 3 people. I love not just their style, but the obvious personality behind it. Best of luck Tiffany, Celia and Nikki!!
Check it out for yourself. Vote!! Come back and share it. I wish Gabi from YFF were in the running.
Update: They have 10 in every color but fuchsia!! This always happens to me.

Those shoes truly are very hot. I’m sort of sad that high stiletto heels are becoming really fashionable again because I cannot wear them to work – I need either a stacked heel or one of those cute little kitten heels.
Sarah, I feel your pain. I don’t think I’d ever be able to stand in these for 6-8 hours.
One of the only reasons I’m not afraid to wear boots with heels is because it feels like there’s extra support/control for the ankle and leg when the boots are snug. So, it feels like it’s helping me with balance.
On top of this, I feel sort of guilty when I buy shoes “just for a night out”, because my spouse will pointedly move them off the shoe rack if I don’t wear them at least once a week! But I love those Naughty Monkey pumps. And I’ve been keeping my eye on these shoes, although i don’t know WTF is going on with the toe.
