Stupid perfect jeans!!!
- Green tie-front top (last seen here) from Banana Republic– $16.99
- Recently mended AG Adriano Goldschmeid “The Club” Jeans via Filene’s Basement– $32 on sale with a coupon
- Hot pink lizard pumps (last seen here) by Vince Camuto via Ross– $6.99
Grrrrrr… I put loads of time and energy* into these beautifully-fitting, flattering jeans, and they’re totally falling apart.
Basically every little rip I stitched closed is now reopening. Within two wears! And not where I stitched– not along the seam itself– but right next to the stitching, opening up a lovely new hole.
I guess subpar denim is what got these jeans the “irregular” stamp. Seriously, I’ve only worn them maaaaaybe 20 times.
They’re $150-200 jeans.
Not cute.
Especially not this year, with my extremely limited budget.
The “good” news is that last year, I also snagged a non-irregular and very similar pair of AG Jeans (in which the denim feels more substantial) for a steal. The bad news? It’s two sizes smaller than this pair.
I had pretty much stopped buying any clothing that I couldn’t wear right out the store (and this year, I can’t). But the deal was so good, and I had been losing weight**… The temptation was too strong.
But now I’m in a bad place. Basically, the above pair is a 31, the pair in my closet is a 29, and I can’t really wear anything smaller than a 30 in this particular style.
I think the best course of action for me is the following:
- Forget I even own the 29s
- Buy some jean patches or something and try and salvage the 31s
- Keep an eagle eye out for other pairs in 30 or 31 at extremely low prices
- At the end of the year, if I can’t wear the 29s, sell them
Oh, logic! Why don’t you and fashion get together more often?

* Okay, not that much, but even an hour is a lot more than I usually put into clothes (after I buy them).
**Slowly and not really intentionally.

That would reallly tick me of too! I mean they expected people to pay so much money for them, and they are disposable pants. Very frustrating.
Is there any way you can have someone reverse engineer a pattern from them, and have them made in a better denim? I know that you are trying to save $$, but maybe you can either put them away until the ban is over, or ask for it as a gift?
My hubby’s grandaddy just showed me these jackets they used to make in the 70s, they were like men’s short sleeved safari jackets. He loved them, and cannot find them anymore (lol) so he had a tailor remake it in 2 other colors.
Sorry about the stupid perfect jeans!
Too bad about the holes, because you are totally rockin this outfit! And denim patches are so 8th grade…
Bianca– I was thinking about this– believe you me! Even if they fall apart, I won’t throw them out, because man, is it hard for me to find jeans!
mlshiira– I was thinking the kind you iron on the inside.
