Viva la vest!

BraceletBraadThis whole outfit was less than $25 without the shoes– can’t beat that!  Okay, you can, but still– not bad.

The real story here is the vest.  I bought it for $1.49, my rationale being, mainly… that it was $1.49.  I had no idea how to wear it, but Dottie was right.  It goes with everything.  I especially like it with this top– it’s a kind of femme take on a vest and tie combo, no?

My photographer-slash-husband raved over it.  I gotta say– it slices, it dices, it:

  • draws attention to a narrow waist, or visually “cinches” a thicker one
  • helps break up the expanse of a looong top for women with shorter waists
  • can be found in the latest issue of just about every woman’s mag
  • really does go with everything

See you later, belts!  My new vest is where it’s at!

this outfit is really great inspiration! and i bet a vest is much more comfortable than a belt over a shirt. now i just need to find one.

You know, Sofia, it is. And it’s a little more… subtle, at least in my case. :P

    YAAAAAAAAY

I feel like Stacy and/or Clinton! It’s so exciting to finally see the vest in action. And I love green and black as a combo, so more thumbs up. The tie was initially a little distracting but the more I look at it, the more I appreciate it.

I also think it would look fantastic with some wideleg trousers. But I don’t know if you’ve experienced those being hard to find as a fellow wee curvy person (or if anyone else has, really), because they are the one thing I wish I could pull off but every pair I try on makes me look like a cowbell.

That color greenish/teal looks fabulous on you! And I never thought I’d see a vest on someone past schoolboy age and actually like it ;)

    Very cute!!!

I’ve wanted a vest like that for a long time – I don’t do belts (unless as needed to hold up pants) and maybe that’s part of the definite appeal – belt-like advantages without the belt.

Also: you’re very Angelina Jolie today.

Ooh, Dottie, yeah… These are about as wide a leg as I own right now. Hmmmm… Maybe on my next thrifting trip (I’m posting about my first one next week) I can keep an eye out.

Thanks, Caitlin and Jade! And yes, I highly recommend it.
