Satin shoes? Don’t mind if I do!

• Black shruggy-cardigan thing from Ann Taylor Loft– $15 on sale
• White tank from Guess? via an outlet, circa 2004
• Houndstooth skirt (last seen here) from Simply Manakin via Marshalls– $19
• Felt flower pin from I have no idea
• Fuchsia satin pumps by Guess? via DSW– $48

It would seem I’ve worn these shoes at least a half-dozen times since I bought them last October. I guess that’s only $6.00 per wear, or about $5.99 more per wear than these shoes. Still, in the past, it would have been more like $48 per wear, because outside of the dress and occasion (reunion) I bought them for, I would have deemed satin shoes “too nice” to wear.

 

But hey, part of my challenge this year is wearing all the “too nice” stuff in my closet, and you know what? These shoes have never made me feel awkwardly overdressed. My overdressing has never made me feel awkwardly overdressed, so who are a little old pair of satin shoes to tell me how to feel?

Sure, they’ve acquired a couple of smudges from city living and drunken reunion-goers, but they’ve been worn. And isn’t wearing your clothes half the battle?
