In honor of Michelle and D’s upcoming wedding anniversary, how about a little something naughty? A very little something.
Real Steal
I’ve always wanted to visit Trashy in person, but that will have to wait. In the meantime, I’m checking out their extensive collection of, well, stripperwear. Uh– it’s Trashy Lingerie. It’s right there in the name. They have loads of bargains under $25, bargain costumes (at least 40% non-offensive!), and plus-size bargains (although according to the probably-unreliable size chart, many of their “plus-sized” items may only accommodate up to a 16-18-20).
If I had my drawer-related druthers, I’d stock up on ridiculous bodystockings ($6-20), hot chemise sets (mostly under $35), gloves ($4-16), assorted stockings ($3 and up) and sky-high shoes (as low as $39). And what the heck– throw in this Strawberry Girl costume while we’re at it ($39).
Sensible Splurge
Bravissimo is like the holy grail of giant boobs. Tons of bras in cups from D to KK, in bands as small as 28! And not just bras. Beautiful bras. Strapless bras. Bras that climb on rocks. Plunge bras. Nursing bras. Even bras with chicken pox! Love hot dogs! Armour hot dogs!
Wait. No.
But yes to the bras, and matching panties, and bustiers that actually fit. Not to mention swimsuits, camis with built-in bras, BUTTON-DOWN SHIRTS, JACKETS! THAT! FIT! BUST! AND WAIST! OH! MY!
You can visit in person if you’re in the UK, but shipping anywhere in the world is just £7.50 (about $11 as of this post), and returns are virtually painless. Bravissimo is a godsend for the busty– and though priced in Pounds, still much less expensive than most American and Canadian alternatives for “hard-to-fit” women. For example, this Anna bra from Fantasie is $60 at Nordstrom, but only £23.50 (about $35) at Bravissimo.
Come on, girls. You must! You must!
Sweet Fantasy
Okay, I know even for couture panties (I can’t believe I just typed those two words together), $500 is, you know– a little steep. But I can’t help sharing these cheeky (GETIT) knickers from Strumpet & Pink. You can (but probably will not) buy them Faire Frou Frou for PRICES AS LOW AS JUST $380!!!
Okay, but seriously, they are pretty fabulous.
If you’d rather get more bang for your (five-hundred) buck(s), head back over to Trashy for their higher-end costumes.
Special Sizes
I’ve heard lots of good things about Hips & Curves, which extends the Frederick’s of Hollywood oeuvre up to Size 6X (maybe more like a 4X in most styles, but it’s a start). Bustiers, “corsets,” garter belts, hosiery and assorted naughty lingerie in the $15-150 range displayed on actual, for real, honest-to-goodness plus-sized models? Are you serious?
Yes, Ma’am. Yes, indeedy. Heheheheheh.

Oh my GOD THE BIKINIS AT BRAVISSIMO
ONE WILL BE MINE THIS SUMMER
OH YES
For underwear I’ve been looking more at Freya but Bravissimo clearly wins in the swimwear department!
I’d be soooo fetch in my hot new suit on the beach, getting stung by jellyfish, etc.
I’ve bought some stuff from hips&curves to mixed results. I think it’s mostly a “you get what you pay for” situation. I wouldn’t buy everyday bras from them by any means, but they’re good for lingerie you’re not gonna wear long.
your bravissima song had me rolling, and I think I’m gonna check them out again. I’ve been on a bit of a lingerie kick, and I don’t think I have to tell you that Lane Bryant (home of gigantic panties) is not cutting it in terms of filling out my wardrobe.
I’m also gonna check out Trashy. sounds like they at least appreciate a smallish big girl like myself.
thanks for this post. it gave me options beyond looking at Agent Provocateur’s website and wishing I was thin and rich. you rock my stockings!
Bravissimo is such a revelation for big boob ladies like myself– especially those of us with relatively small band sizes (34F/32FF). No more spilling out of Gap XL triangle swim tops while 3 feet of extra tie hangs down my back. No more wearing 36DDs and falling out the bottom– and no need to pay $70 a bra, either. When they have sales, as they did in December, their bras can be as cheap as 15 Pounds or so. Their catalogs are fabulous and hilarious– they talk about boobs all day long. This is great for your boobs, your boobs will love this, boobs boobs boobs. It’s great. And I love their clothing sizing system– I’m a 10 “Super Curvy.” I just wish they went above a size 16 (approximately a US 14).
They are total geniuses at stocking and making all the things you thought would never fit you without a tailor, like button-down shirts, etc. And they have such real-looking models, you know? Unlike the Photoshopped bots at Victoria’s Secret.

Likeawoman, that’s what I’d heard about Hips & Curves. It’s nothing fancy or anything, but I guess like Faith 21 of Forever 21, it’s at least the same cheap, cute stuff thinner women can find at Frederick’s.
Dottie – beware of Freya bikini tops! I’m a 40DDD, and I bought this gorgeous bikini top in the biggest size they had, a 40E, and my tits were spilling over allll over the place. Sigh!
Sadly, this makes me hesitant to buy another pricey bikini top for fear that the same thing will happen.
But, I am not giving up hope! My dream is that someday they will make bikini tops that fit me like my favorite Lane Bryant balconette bra.
Embarrassed to say that I never figured out that Bravissimo was less expensive than Figleaves.
Those costumes remind me of Halloween…
heh heh, good times, good times….
Tara, Freya is British and is sized differently than US bras or swimwear. For example, I wear a 32DD in Wacoal, but my Freya size is 30F. (Their cup sizes go D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H.)
I bought a great bikini from them — the best-fitting suit I’ve ever owned — but you have to figure out what your size is. So I would advise you to try going down a band size and up 2 cup sizes from your US size, especially if you wear Wacaol.
