As alluded to in previous posts, my parents gave me a $100 gift certificate for my birthday. My mom intended it to be from 6pm.com, but they’ve either discontinued selling gift certificates or made them impossible to find for some reason. So, technically, it’s a VISA gift card, but to make sure I spend it on myself (and not on household expenses), Mom wanted me to promise I’d spend it at 6pm.com

I think that can be arranged.

After what may total multiple hours perusing the shoesing (aided by signing up for their fantastic daily deals– I’m talking shoes from $9.95-$19.95), I’ve kinda-sorta narrowed it down. I can spend over $100, but not much more. That’s where you come in.

First things first, I desperately need a new bra or three, and I’ve heard only good things about the Gossard Superboost.

Gossard Superboost-- $26.45

Almost $30 for a bra doesn’t seem like a fantastic deal unless you’re a 32FF. I used to snag $10-15 bras from discounters like Marshalls when I could get away with a DD or smaller, but now I’m lucky if I don’t spend $40 or more at the Nordstrom sale rack (or occasionally $30 at Loehmann’s).

So, basically, I feel I need one of those. I could go either way on this Seamfree Microfiber Bra.

Gossard Seamfree-- $25.48

I could use another bra this year, but on the other hand, I still seem to be losing weight (verrrrrrrry sloowwwwlly), so maybe I should save it for a couple months from now?

Then there’s this year’s daily black sandal. Traditionally, I buy a pair on clearance sometime in the fall and wear it nonstop from May through September. At which point I call HAZMAT to come pick them up.

I need something like that.  These look good.

Walking Cradles-- $16.95

Easy Spirit-- $31.63

Timberland-- $37.95

Also sunglasses?  Mine are cr@p.

Jasmine by Pepper's-- $17.95

Jasmine by Pepper's-- $17.25

Rocawear-- $28.75

Random, possibly useful accessories, considering I own few bracelets and fewer earrings.

Nine West-- $15.64

Anne Klein-- $16.56

Chan Luu-- $32.50

Nine West Bracelet-- $23.00

Nine West Bracelet-- $23.00

Nine West Hinged Bracelet-- $21.00

Nine West Hinged Bracelet-- $21.00

AND OMG THEY HAVE MY SHOES IN BLACK.

Aerosoles-- $40.25

Aerosoles-- $40.25

I mean, $40 is no great shakes, but I haven’t seen them anywhere else and I am wearing the red ones to death.  Just sayin’– It’d be nice to have two pair of truly walkable heels.

Oh, and some other random cheap shoes.

RSVP-- $17.14

RSVP-- $17.14

Diba-- $15.18

Diba-- $15.18

What say you?  I am thinking it makes the most sense to concentrate on the best/most unique deals.  Like, as much as I truly need the black sandals and they are kinda-sorta “free,” I have never had too tough a time finding good ones at Marshalls/Ross for under $20.  So $30+ doesn’t seem that fantastic.

But I don’t know.  Like I said, I’m torn.

Thoughts?  Other 6pm.com-specific suggestions?  I wear a 6.5 wide or 7 regular shoe.  :D

    RSVP SHOE!

When I got a nice gift certificate from my parents for my birthday, I spent half of it on practical things (house stuff) and the other half on shoes. That way, it was a present but didn’t feel frivolous.

Please let us know how the Gossard is if you try it. I’m in the same size range as you so it’s great to know about supportive and dirt cheap (for our size) bra options. Though I haven’t done too badly watching the Nordstrom Rack lingerie section closely.

For what it’s worth, I’m a 30FF and I HATED the Gossard Superboost I ordered. I sent it back. It was uncomfortable, unsupportive, and gave me the weirdest, pointiest, most unattractive shape.

I think the Jasmine sunglasses would look good on you!

Tara, do you have any experience with RSVP specifically? I have never tried that brand.

Kari, will do. My friend Deep Seam swears by the Gossard Superboost, so I wanted to give it a try. I’m sure it’s available somewhere around here, but I haven’t found it, so I’ll probably order a couple in a couple different sizes and return what doesn’t fit. Deep Seam told me it runs a bit big in the cup and back, so I’ll probably end up with a 32F. (I am really between a 32/34-F/FF.) Re: cheap bra shopping, I wish I had a Nordstrom Rack around here, b/c I’m sure they’re a great resource.

Kelly– That’s too bad! I dislike the pointy boob look. I noticed when I tried on the Panache Tango Plunge it gave me that shape, and ugh. Assuming I order it, I’ll definitely report back.

I like the Jasmine, too. I guess my face is ovalish, so I’m supposed to be able to wear a range of glasses, but I like something between a cat-eye and a very rounded shape. It’s so hard to say if it will be cute without trying it on, though…

  5. [...] with me? Probably not. It’s okay, I’m almost done. Remember that $100 birthday gift card my mom gave me to use at 6pm.com? I ended up getting the Gossard Superboost (the 32G was the best fit), the Aerosoles Ruf N Tough in [...]
