Um.

Yeah.

This looked way cuter in person, right? Maybe on one of my other personalities.

Easily-Provoked-to-Violence Michelle?

Oh, well.

They can’t all be winners. I guess this is what the camera is for– to pick up what the mirror missed– namely the less-than-flattering ultra-low-slungness of the pants and the tummy-embiggening pouch of the hoodie.

Is there anything that can be done to save this outfit? Or should I just give it up to God?

I just feel like, if you’re gonna do the sweats thing, you can’t wear it with anything other than sneakers or flip flops. Otherwise, your feet and body look oddly mismatched!

Okay, it’s face-slappingly obvious now that I think about it. Can you tell I have little-to-no experience with sweats? And what in the world can I wear on top?

  3. Tara on Thursday 28, 2009

Well, I think the problem with the top is that monochromatic shades of brown are hard to pull off, unless they’re much lighter, like beige.

But in place of a pullover, you could do a tshirt, tank top, or some other pullover/sweatshirt that is a complementary color to brown!

I feel like it can be done, but I’ll have to try it out and see… It’s the low-rise, YK? It definitely makes me look torso-long and leg-short, which… Well, my legs are (relatively) not-short, so theoretically it’s not terrible, but with my shape, I’m afraid it’ll be tricky a la my skinny cords.

I think you just need to experiment with different lengths and colors on top. But honestly, no one but yourself is looking all that critically at your outfit when sweats are involved, so it’s a low pressure situation! ;)

I tend to think that if the pants were longer (like dragging on the ground almost) it would even out your proportions more. And the top isn’t too bad….but maybe you could try unpicking the large pocket at the front which might get rid of the pooch look.
But honestly its not that bad! Certainly heaps better than me 90% of the time, lol! Sweats are meant to be casual. I usually wear my trackpants looong with a singlet top or two and pretty tight hoodie half done up (so it sits more like the cardigans you usually wear) and sneakers :)

The top would be wicked cute with skinny jeans. The sweats would be okay if you committed to the full Sporty Spice potential of the outfit and wore a more fitted tank. Together? It’s a little like old school Jenny from the Block.

Ooo…I’m going to have to say that velour is an evil beastie that does not have your best in mind. The way velour catches light just isn’t flattering on anyone–even super svelte girls.

The top is a cute thang, though, and could look great over jeans, with sneakers or a more casual flat.

Rebecca, you know… I hate to admit it, but I might relegate these pants to dogwalking duty unless and until I make a revolutionary discovery in the field of velour wearing.
