30 outfits in 59 days. I’m setting the world on fire, here.

30 of 250
- Red dress seen previously, from Ann Taylor Loft– $20 on sale, with coupon
- Brown side of reversible belt from Betsey Johnson via FB– $16 with coupon*
- Brown faux-croc pumps from Nine West, circa 2005
- I believe that is all I am wearing
This is a prime example of something I never would have tried if not for this challenge. I am such a big fan of this dress without the belt that I never would have fooled with one if I didn’t have to come up with 250 separate outfits this year. Oh, and here it is with a jacket that does not particularly match it, but is green:

Leather jacket from a long-bankrupt vintage store in College Park, Maryland. Jacket circa 1973, purchased circa 1997.
This dress also illustrates another phenomenon that I’m sure we’ve all experienced. To be honest, I didn’t think the dress was anything special until I posted a photo of it online and got a bunch of compliments. I remember this happening a year or two ago, with a little green dress from Kohl’s I wasn’t even sure I should buy. Every time I wore it, it got raves– I was so sad when it died (of overuse, and, well– below-average quality). There’s some sort of rebel fashion angel on my shoulder telling me that in a perfect world, we wouldn’t let what others think affect how we feel about our clothes. And there have been many times in my life that others’ snide remarks have ruined a skirt or a dress or a pair of shoes for me, permanently. But maybe, sometimes– when it makes you feel like a genuine movie star– it’s not such a bad thing.
What say you? What in your closet could you take or leave until everyone told you it made you look like Angelina Jolie**?
*The other side is coincidentally by the same designer and was purchased at the same store.
**True story. Although she may have been kidding.

Did not like this dress in that other pic; don’t know if it’s the angle or lack belt.
But it’s hot here with the belt.
Thanks– I’m still torn! But I admit I never would have even tried it without the challenge!
