A DC gal has to represent on Inauguration Day– or in this case, Inauguration Night. No ball for me, just drinks with friends, but I still wanted to look the part of the proper patriot.

I was a little tired at the tail end of the four-day weekend, but I tried to make an effort.

  • 1960’s vintage red, white and blue dress via Annie Creamcheese (of course)– about $75
  • Red peep toes with ankle straps from Nine West Outlet– $24.99

I wore the same dress on election night as well.

Because my shape almost always necessitates at least a little spandex, I am a sucker for anything from the pre-spandex era that fits me without alterations. Thus, my willingness to spend $75 on this dress. As far as the shoes are concerned, I often read that women with shorter and meatier legs should avoid ankle straps (especially higher ones like these), as they chop up the leg line. I can’t say I disagree, but I’m not running out to buy new red shoes right now. Besides, I am no longer afraid to draw attention to my calves. They get me where I want to go and they look pretty good doing it.
